General Education Curriculum

The Carlow Compass, or general education curriculum, offers you direction and flexibility in pursuing your educational objectives. The curriculum integrates your major course of study with the University’s mission, vision and Mercy heritage and emphasizes career readiness and ethical leadership. Our goal is to help you reach your academic and professional goals.

First year:

Sophomore. junior and senior years:

  • Liberal Arts Breadth Requirements
  • Expression
  • Natural World
  • Social Justice
  • Wisdom
  • Liberal arts depth requirement
  • Upper-level and social responsibility requirement
  • Junior anchor course
  • Senior capstone (minimum 1 credit) designed in consultation with major advisor
