Merit scholarships are awarded to traditional first-year undergraduate students (full time) based on high school academic performance. This scholarship is presented at the time of admission and is generally renewable for four years or eight semesters.
The scholarships listed below are for students entering Carlow in the 2024-25 academic year.
Trustee Scholarship: $22,000 (GPA: 3.850 and above)
GPAs represent the weighted, cumulative high school GPA at the end of junior year, on a traditional 4.0 scale. Carlow will recalculate GPA for those on a 100-point or other nontraditional GPA scale.

Mercy Values Scholarship
Admitted full-time traditional first-year students can submit a video essay talking about their interest in attending a values-based institution, the ways in which they embody our values, and how they see themselves fitting into Carlow’s story.
Carlow awards may be combined with Merit scholarships and institutional grants as long as they do not exceed the cost of tuition. The following awards are available for those entering Carlow in the 2024-25 academic year:
Catholic High School Award: Graduates of a Catholic high school will qualify for a $5,000 per year award
Legacy Award: Children or grandchildren of alumni (who completed a degree at Carlow University) will qualify for a $2,000 per year award
College in High School Award: Students who successfully complete a transcripted Carlow University College in High School course (with a grade of C or better) will qualify for a $1,000 per year award
15213 Award: Students whose permanent and primary residence is located in the 15213 zip code will qualify for a $3,000 per year award
Rural High School Award: Graduates of a public high school in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania identified as rural by the Center for Rural Pennsylvania will qualify for a $2,000 per year award
Mid-Atlantic Award: Students whose permanent and primary residence is in the District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, or Virginia will qualify for a $3,000 per year award
New York Award: Students whose permanent and primary residence is in the State of New York will qualify for a $3,000 per year award
Northwest PA Award: Students whose permanent and primary residence is in the Erie-Meadville combined statistical area (Crawford and Erie counties) will qualify for a $3,000 per year award
Ohio Award: Students whose permanent and primary residence is in the State of Ohio will qualify for a $3,000 per year award
South Central PA Award: Students whose permanent and primary residence is in the Harrisburg-York-Lebanon combined statistical area (Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lebanon, Perry, and York counties) will qualify for a $3,000 per year award
West Virginia Award: Students whose permanent and primary residence is in the State of West Virginia will qualify for a $3,000 per year award
