• Hybrid, low-code, skills-first curriculum focuses on the practical skills employers need most: identifying threats, protecting networks, and understanding digital ethics.
• Low-code programs are a lower barrier to careers in tech, increasing access to high-paying jobs and supporting our mission and university goals.
• A Career Navigation course early in the curriculum to help students understand how and where to find jobs in the industry
• Learn to investigate security threats, analyze data breaches, and apply ethical thinking to real-world challenges—all through interactive labs, group projects, and scenario-based learning.
• Prepare for industry certifications like CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker, and GIAC Security Essentials.
The field of cybersecurity has grown rapidly over the past decade, creating strong career pathways for graduates. Most students who complete a cybersecurity degree begin their careers as Security Analysts, with responsibilities that vary depending on the organization. Others choose to pursue graduate education, focusing on specialized domains or deepening their technical expertise. The degree also equips students with versatile skills that are valuable in related areas such as business analysis, information technology, criminal justice, and computer science.
Carlow’s Cybersecurity program prepares students for dynamic careers in modern security environments where organizations use security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) platforms to defend against threats. Students can choose to build broad expertise as cybersecurity generalists or specialize in areas like network security, application security, vulnerability management, threat intelligence, or digital forensics. While the curriculum covers general encryption protocols, it is not designed to prepare students for cryptographic programming, which requires advanced training in mathematics and specialized programming languages.
Graduates are ready for a wide range of entry-level positions in cybersecurity and related fields. Potential job titles include Security Analyst, Cyber Threat Analyst, Compliance Officer, and Cybersecurity Product Manager. With the growing demand for professionals who can secure critical systems and data, a degree in cybersecurity opens the door to both immediate career opportunities and advanced study.
