How the apprenticeship model can help train and lift early childhood educators

Applying the apprenticeship model to the field of early childhood education is a unique approach that pays dividends for both children and those who care for them. It’s a novel idea and one Carlow University has been employing since 2018 when it established the Western Pennsylvania Early Childhood Education Apprenticeship Hub — the state’s first.

Carlow University and Westmoreland County Community College, in partnership with the Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce, held a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark a continuing partnership between the schools to increase opportunities to meet the future workforce needs of the county and allow community college students to seamlessly transfer to Carlow.

Carlow University Receives $50,000 Grant to Study Substance Use Disorder Crisis Resources in Westmoreland and Fayette Counties

“Southwestern Pennsylvania Partners in Recovery,” in partnership with Carlow University, has been awarded $50,000 by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to examine the strengths and gaps in the recovery to workforce ecosystem in two counties, particularly for those in recovery from substance use disorders.
