With the Pre-Law minor, you will prepare for the rigors of graduate or professional education by enhancing skills in analytical reasoning, critical reading and effective communication. You will be ready for success in graduate studies or law school, and for a variety of careers in addition to law. The minor is a valuable addition to students in any major.

The selection of required and elective courses for this multidisciplinary minor is based on recommendations established by the Association of American Law Schools. You will be required to take courses in American constitutional law and persuasion and a writing course.

Minor in Psychology

You can expand your perspective with a psychology minor: A better understanding of human behavior and experience can be helpful in any career. This minor, open to any major, allows you to sample from a variety of psychology courses in a general concentration.

Study Counseling at Carlow

You can gain pre-professional level knowledge and skills for the helping professions such as social work, nursing, education, sociology and human resource with Carlow’s minor in Counseling, open to non-Psychology majors.

Curriculum for Counseling minor

The Counseling minor is open to any major. A minimum of 18 credits is required, at least 9 of which must be taken at Carlow.

Minor in Child Development

You can learn about the social, biological, emotional and cognitive factors that affect children’s development with Carlow’s Child Development minor, open to non-Psychology majors.

Child Development minor curriculum

The Child Development minor is open to any major. A minimum of 18 credits is required; at least 9 credits must be 200 level or higher, and 12 must be taken at Carlow.

You can expand your physical science major with a minor in neuroscience. You will study how the functions and mechanisms of the nervous system affect behavior in animals and humans in conjunction with your major studies in biology, chemistry or psychology.

This minor is designed for students not majoring in Behavioral Neuroscience and is open to any major. A minimum of 21 credits is required;10 must be taken at Carlow University.

With this science-focused minor, you can enhance your biology background and pursue other career interests. A Biology minor prepares you for such fields as professional writing, business management, communications, psychology and social work. You will be ready for positions within organizations in the medical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

You must complete 18 credits, including two required courses and three advanced biology electives (at least two electives must be taken in residence at Carlow University).

You can deepen your knowledge of pure and applied mathematics while customizing a Mathematics minor to enhance any major field of study.

You will solidify your logic, critical thinking and problem-solving skills through this versatile course of study.

This minor is open to any major. A minimum of 20 credits is required.

Carlow offers a diverse set of upper-level electives so you can choose a pure mathematics focus with electives such as Number Theory or Modern Algebra, or an applied mathematics focus with electives such as Differential Equations or Linear Programming.

You can give yourself a competitive edge in the job market with a Modern Languages minor from Carlow University. You will take six semesters of a foreign language. Credits earned while studying abroad or during enrollment at Carlow University, earned at another college or university, or earned through study at a Pennsylvania Council of Higher Education institution are accepted.

You can learn to help others increase their quality of life and understanding of health with a Healthcare Management minor. You will gain the skills you need to provide for patient care and well-being while establishing a foundational understanding of management in health services and business management concepts.

The Healthcare Management minor will prepare you for a number of career opportunities, including health care advocacy and working in physicians’ practices and long-term care. You will gain experience with health services management, project management and business management, along with some exposure to information technology training.

Carlow University’s Health Coach minor is designed for students who seek to work with patients or in a health care setting but not necessarily in direct patient care. Drawing from many disciplines, the minor explores concepts, theories, practices and research that are essential to developing leadership skills to create career-ready leaders who will facilitate positive change in health care delivery.

The minor can improve your career marketability in the growing health care field.

The Health Coach minor, open to any major, consists of 19 credits (4 required, 2 chosen).
