Minor in Ceramics

You can work with your hands and master the essentials of two-dimensional art and sculpture, supplementing your art education with a minor in Ceramics from Carlow University. You will gain a well-rounded perspective on creativity in ceramics and refine your technical skills by working in the university’s art studio spaces, including three semesters in the Advanced Ceramics Studio working with different materials, techniques and kilns.

Minor in Painting and Drawing

Minor in Musical Arts

You can connect your passion for music with social justice and academic work with a Musical Arts minor from Carlow University. Minor in Theatre

You can combine your interest in creative arts, humanities and sciences with a minor in Theatre. In this program you will develop your mind, body and imagination with a combination of thinking, doing and creative problem-solving. You can get your hands dirty with everything from building sets to being the star of the show.

Carlow University’s Rosemary Heyl Theatre is a professional space that features programming by the theater program and the University Theatre Group, which is composed of both Carlow students and Pittsburgh community members and has produced shows from William Shakespeare to Tom Stoppard.

A minor in Business Management will equip you with a set of skills that are useful in every industry.

With a Business minor, you will learn the foundations of business, human resources and marketing in order to excel in a career in business. You will gain business skills to complement any degree, and learn to be a responsible leader. You will learn how to work in today’s global business environment, and how to apply communication principles related to business.

You must complete 18 credits, including four required courses and two electives (two at the 300/400 level).

Minor in Economics

A minor in Economics complements a variety of majors in related fields. If you are preparing for an MBA program or foreign service, or are interested in quantitative data analysis in the social sciences, then minoring in Economics is an attractive choice.

Economics minor curriculum

You will study economic theories and methods of analyzing data pertaining to the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services. A minimum of 18 credits is required.

Expand your IT knowledge: Information Technology Management Minor

The Information Technology Management minor can be added from any of Carlow University’s disciplines. With IT becoming an integral part of most future careers, this minor will enhance your studies and prepare you for technical functions in a variety of workplaces.

The IT Management minor will provide you with the basic mechanics of information technology used in today’s technology-oriented work environments. You will gain knowledge in a variety of IT areas such as programming, database, information security and web design.

Information Technology Management minor curriculum

This minor is open to any major. A minimum of 18 credits is required.

  • Accounting Information Systems or Human Resource Information Systems Management I

Accounting, Forensic Accounting and Human Resource Management majors can, in consultation with their advisor, opt for an ITM minor concentrating in database management.

Minor in Labor and Working Class Studies  

The Labor and Working Class Studies minor is an interdisciplinary 18-credit minor which combines history and human resource management. It prepares students to become reflective practitioners and compassionate leaders in a wide range of careers.

You will gain an understanding of working class dynamics, including unions, culture and politics, and the administrative and ethical issues involved in labor relations and other business decisions. 

Working Class Studies curriculum   

The minor requires a minimum of 18 credits, which include 12 credits of electives from History and Business Management.

Make a difference: Minor in Public Policy & Leadership

A minor in Public Policy and Leadership can help you become a change agent. This program will help you learn how to analyze, evaluate and implement policy decisions.

You will gain understanding of the political constraints faced by policymakers, how to critically evaluate the effectiveness of policies and how to measure the performance of alternative approaches to policy implementation. 

Public Policy & Leadership minor curriculum

This minor is open to any major. A minimum of 18 credits and a capstone project or internship are required; 12 credits must be completed at Carlow.
