Carlow University is saddened at the passing of Marylouise Fennell, RSM, EdD, the University’s seventh president, serving from 1982-1988. She was 83 years old.
Carlow University and Westmoreland County Community College, in partnership with the Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce, held a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark a continuing partnership between the schools to increase opportunities to meet the future workforce needs of the county and allow community college students to seamlessly transfer to Carlow.
“Southwestern Pennsylvania Partners in Recovery,” in partnership with Carlow University, has been awarded $50,000 by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to examine the strengths and gaps in the recovery to workforce ecosystem in two counties, particularly for those in recovery from substance use disorders.

Carlow University has announced plans to shift athletic conferences in an exploratory year to begin in Fall 2022. The Celtics will join the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as a Division III university in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC).
Two honorees, who address structural injustice and dehumanizing situations, will take center stage at Carlow’s 2022 Commencement ceremony, held this year on Mother’s Day, May 8, 2022, at Soldiers & Sailors Hall.
For the seventh year in a row, Carlow University’s bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) graduates have topped Pittsburgh nursing schools for the highest first-time pass rate for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
