Carlow University has been awarded a total of $450,000 from two grants to back the education department’s “Power of One” project, aimed at providing teacher certification for educators of color in Pittsburgh.
"Down on James Street," a children's picture book by Carlow alum Nicole McCandless, contains social justice undertones rooted in lessons learned at the University.

Distinction as Carlow Laureate, the University's most prestigious accolade, has been bestowed upon five alumna for the highest standards of professional accomplishment and leadership.
Carlow University was awarded $886,892 from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education’s Professional Development Organization Grant through the Office of Child Development and Early Learning for scholarships and supports for childcare providers who are attending a college or university programs.
Both a Virtual Commencement Ceremony and an in-person Celebration of Graduation ceremony will allow students to celebrate this milestone in a matter that fits their own comfort level.
