Turn Your Tax Dollars into Local Impact

At Carlow University, we believe education is the foundation of creating a more just and merciful world. That vision begins in our own classrooms, both at the Campus Laboratory School (CLS), where children from preschool through eighth grade learn in an environment rooted in curiosity and compassion, and in the College of Education and Social Work (CESW), where tomorrow’s teachers are shaped to meet the needs of Pittsburgh’s schools and communities.

How Businesses Can Help

Through Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programs, local businesses can redirect up to 90% of their state tax liability to support scholarships for CLS families and Carlow education students

Your partnership does more than fund scholarships. It helps prepare the next generation of skilled, compassionate teachers; expands access to quality education for local children; and strengthens the foundation of a vibrant regional workforce.

How Businesses Can Help

When you give through EITC or OSTC, you:

  • Invest in the future workforce by helping Carlow educate the teachers and caregivers who will shape tomorrow’s professionals.
  • Create opportunities for families who might not otherwise afford high-quality education—ensuring every child has a fair chance to learn and thrive.
  • Join companies like U.S. Steel in demonstrating community leadership by supporting a program that directly benefits local schools, families, and employers.
Meeting a Regional Need

Meeting a Regional Need

Western Pennsylvania faces a pressing challenge: too many families struggle to access high-quality, affordable education, and too many classrooms lack the teachers they need. At the same time, our nation continues to wrestle with a literacy crisis, with two-thirds of fourth and eighth graders reading below proficiency. Carlow responds to these challenges head-on.

At CLS, 40% of students in PreK–8th grade receive financial aid. Last year, 24 students received scholarships funded by EITC or OSTC, with an average award of $5,100. Families count on these dollars to make transformative education possible.
