Dear Students,

Allegheny County COVID-19 positivity rates fell slightly over the past week, but nonetheless the area remains in the “high” CDC community level category. Some areas, such as the Cultural District, are now requiring masks indoors again. Details on the “County View” may be found by clicking here.

BSU/SJI Juneteenth Event – Thursday, June 16

Please join the Carlow University Black Student Union and Social Justice Institutes for a brief presentation on the history of Juneteenth. The meeting will take place virtually via Microsoft Teams on Thursday, June 16 at 6 p.m. Join the Juneteenth event here. Feel free to share the link with anyone as this is an event open to the community.

Campus Vending Available

On campus for class this summer? Vending machines are in AJP and Frances Warde halls, respectively. You may also now find beverages and snack at the Celtic Market on the first floor of the University Commons.

Juneteenth Homecoming and Youth Festivals

Carlow University is the proud sponsor of Western Pennsylvania’s Juneteenth Homecoming and Youth Festivals! In addition to our logo being included on promotional materials, we will have a booth on-site for the Youth Festival on June 11 and 12 at Mellon Park as well as at the big celebration June 17-19 at Point Park. Carlow also is part of Juneteenth promotion through Pittsburgh Urban Media.

The CAA is Open for Tutoring and Academic Coaching

Remember that the CAA is tutoring and coaching online and in person. Make an appointment here. You may also call 412-578-6271 or stop by the CAA office on the fourth floor of the University Commons.

Fall Registration

Students are encouraged to register for Fall 2022 classes at their earliest convenience, as we will soon begin evaluating sections to determine whether consolidation needs to occur. If you have a hold and are unable to register, you may find details in Self-Service. You may also contact the HUB, 412-578-6389, for assistance.

Mask Reminder

Due to the high level of positive COVID-19 cases, some areas in Allegheny County are requiring masks indoors. As of today, Carlow University policy remains mask-optional on campus, except in The Campus Laboratory School and Early Learning Center where masking is required. As this trend continues to evolve, we are monitoring our strategy.

Rising COVID-19 Rates in Allegheny County

As COVID-19 positive cases in Allegheny County remain high, we ask that you continue your commitment to the common good as part of University’s COVID-19 response. For the latest guidance on prevention measures, please see information from the CDC by clicking here.

If you have symptoms, please quarantine and/or isolate per CDC updated guidance here. Students who test positive should remain in place and immediately contact Health Services by calling (412) 578-6474.

Summer Graduation Applications

Students completing their degrees or certificates this summer need to submit a grad app in Self Service. Once in Self Service, click the graduation cap on the left menu bar or Graduation Overview on the main page to access the application site. Contact the Registrar’s Office at if you have any questions. 

Carlow Fitness Center Summer Hours

As a reminder, the fitness center in St. Joe’s will be open:

  • Monday – Thursday: 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Friday – Sunday: Closed

Attend the Virtual NAMI’s Youth and Young Adult Convention

JED Higher Education will host the Virtual NAMI Convention (NAMICon 2022) on June 15-16.

With over 30 workshops, special events, and presenters on topics such as the importance of peer support, mindfulness, mental health tools for young adults, social media’s impact on mental health and so much more. Teens and young adults between 16-29 years old can attend NAMI’s national convention with the registration fee waived by registering here!
