Leaders from Government, Business, and Healthcare Sectors

Pittsburgh, Pa. – Carlow University welcomed six new members to its Board of Trustees for 2017-2018.

“Our new trustees bring a wealth of experience in diverse areas,” said Carlow President Suzanne K. Mellon, PhD.  “We are very fortunate to have them join our board and I know they will strengthen the Carlow community with their talents, energy, and their dedication to the well-being of our university.”

Joining the Carlow University Board of Trustees are:

PA State Senator Michele Brooks is the first woman to represent the 50th Senatorial District, which includes Crawford and Mercer counties and parts of Erie and Warren counties. She serves as Chair of the Senate Aging & Youth Committee and Vice-Chair of the Health and Human Services Committee.

Rosario (Russ) Caggiano is Director of Sales for the Great Lakes Region for Microsoft where he leads a team of sales specialists focused on the digital transformation of retail customers.

Holly Lorenz, RN, MSN, is the Chief Nurse Executive of UPMC with responsibility for establishing and leading the strategic vision for nearly 15,000 nurses. Ms. Lorenz is currently President of the Pennsylvania Organization of Nurse Executives.

Caitlin McLaughlin is Senior Vice President and Director of Total Rewards for The PNC Financial Services Group where she has overall responsibility for the compensation, benefits, workplace solutions, talent acquisition, and metrics and analytics functions. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Vibrant Pittsburgh and of the Forte Foundation.

James H. McTiernan, MBA, of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., has worked in the employee benefit field for over 39 years. He is a recognized expert in the development, funding, and delivery of employee health and welfare benefits

PA State Rep. Jake Wheatley, Jr., represents the 19th Legislative District, which includes the Hill District, Downtown, West, South and North Oakland among others. Rep. Wheatley is Chair of the Finance Committee, and serves on the Policy Committee.
