Franco Rosano Endowed Scholarship Fund
When Franco Rosano was a child, his mother didn’t have enough funds to provide for their own home. They depended on others for help.
When he became a teacher, Franco helped many children in similar situations
Today the Franco Rosano Endowed Scholarship Fund will support Carlow University students who are from disadvantaged neighborhoods, with a priority for single mothers.
Carlow Community Scholars Program
Carlow University’s Community Scholars Program is devoted to providing these students with the resources they need to feel a true sense of belonging and realize their full potential.
Carlow Community Scholars provides holistic support for students and includes the areas of academic success, housing, finances and employment, physical and mental well being, and community engagement. These supports include weekly coaching meetings with the Community Scholars director and staff, access to needed material items, and referrals to campus and community resources.
Program Highlights and Resources
Housing and Daily Living
- Supplies for residence hall room or apartment, including food items, cleaning and laundry supplies, bedding, etc.
- Gap housing for academic year and summer breaks
- Assistance in finding campus employment
Academic Success
- Backpacks and other school supplies
- Technology lending program, including laptops
- Guidance on time management, planning, and study strategies
Community Engagement
- “Chill” space where students can hang out, study, and meet with staff
- Programs and events throughout the semester
- Connections with campus and community organizations
Moving On
• Support finding internships and study abroad opportunities
• Assistance with graduation costs
• Referrals to campus and community organizations that assist with career development
