Understanding Tuition, Fees, and Your Investment

At Carlow, we believe your education is an investment in your future. Here's exactly what it costs, the support available to make it affordable, and what that investment makes possible.

At Carlow, we believe your education is an investment in your future. Here's exactly what it costs, the support available to make it affordable, and what that investment makes possible.

A Carlow education includes the guidance students need (dedicated faculty, academic advising, and career support) to stay on track and reach their goals.

Tuition at Carlow helps make experiential learning (labs, simulations, community-based projects, and professional practice) part of the student journey, not an added extra.

At Carlow, students gain more than a degree; they gain the skills, support, and confidence to move forward with purpose in a changing world.

Tuition & Fees: A Clear Look at Cost

Choosing a college means understanding both the experience and the investment. After considering the support, real-world learning, and career preparation included in a Carlow education, the next step is to review the tuition and fees that make that experience possible.

The information below is intended to give students and families a clear picture of how costs are structured and what to expect when planning for enrollment. In addition to current tuition and fees, you’ll find a three-year view of tuition rates, cost of attendance information, and a course fee schedule to help provide a fuller understanding of the investment.

Three-Year Tuition and Fee Overview

Reviewing tuition and fees across multiple academic years offers helpful context for understanding current rates and planning ahead.

Definitions of Mandatory Fees

Alongside tuition, mandatory fees help support the services, resources, and infrastructure that shape the student experience each semester. These non-waivable fees contribute to areas such as technology, student engagement, campus safety, health and wellness, and transportation—services that help students navigate college successfully both inside and outside the classroom.

Because cost of attendance includes more than tuition alone, understanding mandatory fees offers a more complete picture of how educational expenses are structured. Fees vary based on undergraduate or graduate standing and appear on the student invoice available through Self Service. The definitions below explain what each fee supports and how it contributes to the broader Carlow experience.

The University Fee supports essential campus operations and student-facing services, including administrative services, academic support, police, and safety initiatives.

The Student Activity Fee provides direct financial support to student organizations, as managed by the Student Government Association.

The Graduate Student Activity Fee supports opportunities that enhance the graduate student learning experience. This includes funding for the Graduate Student Government Association, graduate student activities, networking opportunities, conference attendance, research, and other initiatives identified by student leaders.

The Technology Fee supports the technology resources and services students use throughout their academic experience, including the Help Desk, hardware and software support, technology-enabled classrooms, printing capabilities, wireless access, and the University’s Learning Management System.

The Health and Wellness Fee supports the Health & Wellness Clinic, Wellness and Fitness Services, and broader efforts to strengthen student health and well-being.

Note: Students with an online location are not charged this fee.

The Transportation Fee supports access and mobility by funding the U-Pass through Pittsburgh Regional Transit, as well as campus transportation operations such as parking lot and roadway maintenance, enforcement, and administration.

The Graduate CHW Fee supports administrative and instructional costs tied to clinical education, including release time for clinical placement directors and site coordinators, as well as additional adjunct faculty needed to maintain the low student-to-faculty ratio required for clinical supervision.
