Kelly McAliney has devoted her time at Carlow at the Campus Lab School of Carlow University, creating a classroom where every student feels valued. As a dedicated educator currently teaching third grade — and with experience in second, fourth, and fifth grade — she understands that every child brings unique interests, needs, and strengths to the classroom. She believes listening and truly getting to know her students is the foundation for helping them grow, both academically and as kind, thoughtful individuals.

At the heart of her teaching philosophy is the understanding that learning should be fun, engaging, and connected to the real world. She fosters a space where meaningful conversations happen daily and where students feel encouraged to ask questions, share their ideas, and make connections beyond the classroom walls. Her hope is that every student leaves her classroom with not only stronger skills but also a lasting love of learning that stays with them long after they move on.

Equally important to her is building an inclusive environment where all students see themselves represented and know that their voices matter. She works to ensure that each child knows they belong, and that kindness and respect are at the core of how they learn and grow together.

Beyond the classroom, Kelly McAliney leads the #bethekindkid club at CLS, a project especially close to her heart. Through this initiative, students create and sell products, using the funds to support local organizations. By guiding students to give back, she shows them that serving others brings purpose and spreads joy in ways big and small.

Whether through inspiring curiosity in the classroom or modeling compassion through service, Kelly McAliney remains devoted to nurturing her students to become thoughtful, engaged, and kind members of their community.
