Required mask policy and vaccination status reminders shared with students ahead of Labor Day weekend

Dear Students,

Allegheny County Health Department continues to report high numbers of positive COVID-19 cases, keeping the county in the high-risk category. Details may be found by clicking here. Therefore, our collective actions in commitment to the common good remain critically important for overall campus health and safety.

New this week there are several important updates to manage the start to the academic year within the COVID-19 environment.

ACTION NEEDED: Submit Vaccination Status Information

If you have not already responded, Carlow University is requiring students to report their vaccination status. We need each of you to click here to submit your information. The Sept. 1, 2021 deadline has now passed. Please submit your information immediately. All information is confidential and will be gathered in aggregate form to guide University policy, prevention, and mitigation decisions. Please understand we will be following up with each student to confirm compliance and failure to do so may result in conduct review.

ACTION NEEDED: Properly Fitting Masks Must Be Worn Indoors

Carlow University requires properly fitting masks to be worn indoors, regardless of vaccination status. We have been getting reports of masks below noses, and individuals without masks at times. Please take care when entering buildings, classrooms, and common spaces to put on a mask. If you lose or forget a mask, you may obtain a disposable mask at Campus Police, Frances Warde Hall.

Please note that there are no exceptions for this policy. If you feel you need an accommodation, please contact the Disabilities Services Office to discuss your needs confidentially.

Symptomatic? Report COVID-19 Test Results

If you are experiencing symptoms that may be associated with COVID-19, please stay home and contact Health Services or your Primary Care Provider. Students are encouraged to self-report their test results to inform Carlow University’s COVID-19 dashboard. Students should contact Health Services by clicking here, calling 412-578-6474 or emailing hcs@carlow.edu.
