Prorated housing, meal relief underway for displaced residential students

University Communication to Residential Students

Dear Residential Students,

Thank you for your responsiveness and patience with the transition to helping to prevent and mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus. As we saw this week from public health officials, young adults in particular are critical to helping minimize the health impact to our community. Therefore, we continue to encourage you to return home if you have that option available, and yet we remain open in service of those students with a demonstrated need to remain on campus.

Please know we are mindful of the limitations placed on you regarding access to residential and dining services. Many students have been effectively displaced from campus. For students who have been displaced from campus housing as a result of university recommendations and decisions, we are committed to offering some relief to housing and meal plan fees that you’ve paid. We are in the process of finalizing the list of displaced students and determining the methodology for calculating such relief, taking into account the unique room assignment, meal plan, and related financial aid awards of each residential student.

Once we have confirmed the list of displaced students, the relief methodology, and have determined the duration of displacement from campus housing, we will calculate the amount of prorated relief, how such relief will be distributed, and notify residential students accordingly.
