University of ZagrebAwards Enrique Mu, PhD, a Friend of the Faculty of Organization and Informatics

Pittsburgh, Pa.- Carlow University’s Enrique Mu, PhD, an associate professor and co-director of the MBA program, was honored by the University of Zagreb as a “Friend of the Faculty of Organization and Informatics.”

“[Dr. Mu is] a very important person in the process of faculty of organization and informatics (FOI)development, especially in research and international project cooperation and networking,” said Vjeran Strahonja, the dean of FOI at the University of Zagreb, in an e-mail announcing the award.

Among the reasons provided for Mu being recognized by the University of Zagreb, Strahonja cited Mu’s willingness to host researchers, be a devoted mentor to PhD students, support mobility of Zagreb students, and providing international affirmation of the faculty at the University of Zagreb. “[Dr. Mu] inspires us when we think about our strategy,” he said. “Some of us were kindly received at Carlow University, and you have friends among FOI people that are eager to welcome you in Varazdin.”

This is the fifth such annual award presented by the University of Zagreb, but the first time the recipient was from a U.S. university. The other awardee shave been: Wolf Rauch from Karl-Franzenz University in Graz (2009), Tricia Jenkins from the University of Liverpool(2010), Günter Müller from Freiburg University (2011), Karen Andersson from Mid Sweden University (2012) and Oliver Moravčik from Slovak University of Technology (STU), Faculty of Materials Science and Technology in Trnava (2013).

“I have been nicely surprised with this notice of receiving an award from the University of Zagreb,” said Mu. “I have worked in different research projects with faculty and student there for several years, and this has led to a mutual respect and friendship, which is what this recognition is about. It will be an honor to accept it via video this week.”

The University of Zagreb will present this award to Mu on Thursday, December 18, 2014, at the Croatian National Theatre in Varazdin, Croatia. Mu will pre-record a video message to acknowledge his acceptance of the award.
