Pittsburgh, Pa. – Carlow University is announcing a year-long trans-Atlantic (United States & Ireland) celebration of the 20th Anniversary of its MFA in Creative Writing Program. A number of events and activities will be open to the public.
Starting January 4, 2024, the MFA Program will:
• Host events and activities (many open to the public), including public readings, workshops, and online presentations, to shine light on the Carlow MFA community.
• Publish and launch the 20 Anthology, a book of poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction representing the very best of Carlow MFA mentors, alums and students.
• Conduct the Carlow MFA 20th Anniversary Scholarship Campaign, an annual effort to support excellence in writing and attract talented students.

We’ll be partnering with local independent bookstores, libraries and other literary organizations that create the foundation of Pittsburgh’s literary community. And in June 2024, we’ll host similar events in Dublin during Carlow’s annual MFA residency at Trinity College.
We welcome the media to tell Carlow MFA Program’s unique story.
• Come to our kick-off event on January 5th (see attached flyer) and let us show you what makes the Carlow program one of Pittsburgh’s literary gems.
• Interview acclaimed Carlow MFA mentors and alums. We will supply interview opportunities, photos, and writing examples. We’ll provide the history of Carlow’s genesis in Ireland and show how the MFA program continues the rich relationship with Irish writers making our program unique from all others.
• Post our events in your calendar. See the attached flyer for January dates.
We’ll be communicating with you throughout the year about other events.
