Carlow University prepares future service leaders to enter the workforce with a sense of their own purpose in the world, a compassionate regard for others and a devotion to mercy and justice, no matter their field.

Psychology

As a Psychology major at Carlow, you will gain broad-based knowledge in human behavior and experience from a scientific perspective by exploring research methodology and critical analysis in various fields of psychology, such as counseling, developmental, cognitive, social and biological psychology. In addition, the Psychology program at Carlow offers optional concentrations in counseling, crisis and trauma, and child development for those interested in a deeper dive into those areas of interest.

Masters in
Social Work

Carlow University’s MSW program includes interdisciplinary teamwork and collaboration with three distinct specializations – direct practice, macro practice, and school social work. The mission of the Master of Social Work (MSW) Program at Carlow University is to educate and prepare ethical, compassionate professionals committed to a more just and merciful world. The MSW program promotes a trauma and research informed approach to professional social work practice to promote human and societal well-being and human rights. Graduates critically engage in service to and advocacy for diverse populations and complex systems using a cultural humility lens to promote racial, social, economic, and environmental justice.

Masters in
Professional Counseling

Carlow University’s Professional Counseling programs (Addictions Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling) are designed to prepare professional counselors to work with diverse clients in a variety of settings. The program emphasizes a developmental focus across the lifespan, ethical practice, applied scholarship to clinical work and cultivates respect for the uniqueness of all individuals. Grounded in the legacy of the Sisters of Mercy humanitarian works, the program emphasizes justice, inclusion and advocacy within counseling.

Masters in
Psychology

Discover your passion through our specially designed curriculum, which offers six guided elective specializations including forensic, educational, assessment, treatment, expressive arts or general exploration. You will collaborate with our supportive and experienced faculty to choose the pathway that helps you become who you want to be. While our MA in Psychology program serves as a program for those who wish to pursue a career that does not require licensure, it can provide a great pathway to a doctorate as well.
