University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is the largest non-governmental employer in the state of Pennsylvania. They operate an insurance division and over 25 award-winning hospitals and research institutions. UPMC is currently is ranked No. 12 in the nation on the U.S. News & World Report Honor Roll of America’s Best Hospitals. 



Highmark is among the top 10 largest health insurers in the United States and is the fourth largest Blue Cross and Blue Shield-affiliated company. They serve over 5 million members and employ around 18,000 people. 

Pittsburgh Public School District

Carlow teachers are among the best in the nation, and you'll find many of them serving the public good in Pittsburgh's public schools -- a school system that operates 54 schools, enrolls over 24,000 students, and operates with a 570 million dollar budget.

Mercy Behavioral Health

Sharing many of the same core values as Carlow, Mercy Behavioral Health was also founded by the Sisters of Mercy. Their mission is to "Empower individuals & families to overcome barriers and to lead healthy and successful lives in the community."

Animal Rescue League and Wildlife Center

The Wildlife Center specializes in the care and treatment of injured, orphaned, and ill native Pennsylvanian wildlife. All animals are admitted to the clinic with the goal of releasing them back into the wild as healthy individuals.

Veteran's Place

Veterans Place is dedicated to ending homelessness among veterans in the Pittsburgh region. They offer homeless veterans a safe, supportive and regenerative environment as they gain the necessary skills to face real life challenges, secure permanent housing and lead productive and self-sufficient lives.

Wigle Whiskey

At the height of Whiskey making in Western Pennsylvania, there were 4,000 documented stills. Today, Wigle Whiskey is the only whiskey distillery in the region and was the first distillery in the City of Pittsburgh since Prohibition. Wigle is a family-owned and operated small business that celebrates our region's heritage.
