Decriminalization of Sex Work as Harm Reduction

March 30, 2022 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Free
The Social Justice Institutes logo contains those words in black print on a white background.

In the 2 years since the passage of SESTA/FOSTA, police departments across the country have reported exponential growth in reports of human trafficking, increased difficulties locating and arresting traffickers, and increased reports of physical and sexual violence against women and trans people in adult industries. Further, social media sites have increased efforts of censorship, removing the accounts of body positive and sexual assault activists, sex educators and therapists, and sex workers to pre-empt potential legal repercussions. As legislators, tech companies, and financial institutions further marginalize sex workers, join us for a conversation with organizers and advocates to hear why decriminalization is the best path forward for all.

Panelists: Olivia Snow, PhD (NYU), Jamie Martina (SWOP PGH), Rayven Morrow, MA (U of Illinois), Veronica Shepp, MA (U of Illinois)

Co-sponsored by Project SAFE and the Social Justice Institutes (SJI)
