Dear Carlow University Faculty and Staff,

As we begin the Fall semester on this first day of classes, I want to thank each and every one of you for the extraordinary effort you have made in assuring a smooth re-opening of our campus and start of the new academic year. This has been an extraordinary time during a global pandemic and I continue to be impressed by the commitment of all of you to the mission of Carlow University. Never has it been more necessary to come together and function as a team, and never have I been more proud of your dedication to our students and our University.

To name but a few of the many contributions over these past several months: the Re-Entry and Resiliency Plan built by a broad and multifaceted planning team and then expanded to an implementation team; the quick pivoting of faculty to convert courses to online delivery in March and prepare for a multi-dimensional and hybrid approach to classes for fall; the remarkable push in Enrollment Management to meet our fall goals along with many others in their contact with potential and returning students; the resiliency and high touch of the Student Affairs team and Hub staff including addressing needs of all students in multiple ways; the determination of the Facilities, Business Procurement, Housekeeping & Dining staffs in preparing the campus to open and procuring the needed PPE and other resources needed; the Advancement team’s fund raising for the Student Emergency Fund; the critical communications and website content created by Marketing to keep us all informed; the Finance team’s management of our budget and use of the CARES Act funds; the management and care of our Human Resources and the weekly words of encouragement, hope and inspiration in our inboxes from the Center for Mercy Heritage and Service.

This has been a team effort like no other and I continue to be humbled and proud of all you have done to ensure the mission continues. We are well prepared to serve our students throughout 2020-2021 and I thank you for all you have done and will continue to do each day.
