Support for Veterans on Campus as well as Graduation and Employment Outcomes Important for Rankings
Pittsburgh, Pa. – Carlow University has been designated a “military friendly” school for the second consecutive year by Victory Media, the originator of Military Friendly® education and career resources for veterans and their families.
Victory Media has been creating their Military Friendly® ratings for post-secondary schools for the past seven years, and for business organizations for the past 13 years. Their ratings recognize colleges and companies with leading programs for veterans, members of the Armed Forces leaving military service and military spouses.
In a press release, Victory Media reported that this year’s lists highlight more than 1,400 Military Friendly® schools and 220 employers “exhibiting best practices in support of military students and employees, respectively. “
“Those earning the 2016 Military Friendly® designation demonstrate a strong connection between classroom learning and career development,” said Daniel Nichols, chief product officer of Victory Media and a Navy Reserve veteran. “They’re moving the needle beyond, ‘why recruit military’ to translating military competencies into training and positive employment after graduation.”
To qualify as a military friendly school, institutions of higher learning had to complete an extensive survey covering ten indicators of success, including:
• support for student veterans on campus;
• graduation and employment outcomes, and
• policies on National Guard and Reserve service.
Victory Media takes the survey results and scores them based on weighting and methodology previously established by the company along with its independent advisory board..
