In order to promote health and wellness, Carlow University's Office of Wellness and Fitness Services offers all non-credit fitness classes free to Carlow students, faculty, and staff. The classes are held in St. Joe's Hall. An all-levels class which will open your mind to the systematic approach and proper form of yoga. Warming up, stretching, and the releasing of muscle tension will reduce stress, increase blood circulation, and improve both physical and mental health.

Self Defense

S.H.A.R.P. (Sexual Harassment and Rape Prevention) is a course intended to teach students, faculty, and staff Sexual Harassment and Rape prevention awareness and simple methods of self-defense that enable a possible victim to escape potential harm. Campus Police Officers teach the basics of self-defense with hands-on training techniques. A vital know-how for all members of the Carlow community.

Water Workout

This class, held in St. Joe's pool, is great for the individual looking for a challenging, low-impact workout that combines fast-paced, cardiovascular and strength-training exercises along with flexibility and balance techniques. This class helps build/maintain endurance, tones and strengthens the muscles of the body and is an excellent form of conditioning.


Zumba is a dance-based fitness class featuring Latin and international music and a variety of dance styles from around the world. It's fun and easy to follow, and gets you into shape without realizing you are exercising!
