The mission of the Center for Mercy Heritage and Service is to embed in the members of the University community an appreciation of our Mercy heritage and Core Values and of their relevance to our lives and work.

Four offices work within the Center for Mercy Heritage and Service:

  • The Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives is committed to transforming the learning experiences of all students recognizing the need for both educational excellence and inclusion.
  • The Office for Mercy Service provides the Carlow community with a collaborative base for community outreach, volunteer programs, and year-round service opportunities.
  • The Office of Campus Ministry serves the pastoral and spiritual needs of the University community and provides a variety of opportunities for service, reflection, prayer, and worship.
  • Through the Office of Mercy Heritage, the roots of the University are honored in the creation of a Mercy/Catholic ambiance, through programming and through mission-related events.

More about us...

Through the energies of the offices of Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives, Service, Campus Ministry, and Heritage, we promote the dignity of each person, instill a lifelong desire to serve others, enable a community of worship, and nurture individuals in their personal faith journeys.

Carlow University was founded by and continues to be sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy. The Center for Mercy Heritage and Service was created in 2007 to enhance our appreciation of our Mercy heritage and to seek creative ways to assure that this rich inheritance remains relevant to who we are and what we do as the community of Carlow University.

The primary application of our mission is in the culture of service which pervades our University community. Service, one of our core values, is a constituent dimension of every person’s life at Carlow. The Vision of the University calls us to develop students as ethical leaders committed to a just and merciful world. To that end, service is integrated into the student experience at all levels in curricular and co-curricular activities.
