Five Women’s Tennis players earn RSC Scholar-Athlete honors

FULL RELEASE | CHAMPIONS OF CHARACTER

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Five Carlow University women's tennis players were named to the River States Conference Scholar-Athlete Team the league announced Thursday.

The 2020 RSC Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete Team proudly recognized 35 student-athletes from around the conference this year.

To be named, student-athletes must have a 3.25 grade-point average or higher, have at least two semesters of attendance prior to the current term, participate in an RSC sport and be nominated by their institution.

Below are the Carlow honorees:

Ashleigh Bowser              SO/Kittanning, Pa.
Caitlin Hoag                     SO/Douglassville, Pa.
Julia Kelly                        JR/Jefferson Hills, Pa.
Julianna Mamajek            SR/Whitehall, Pa.
Raena Matz                      JR/ McElhattan, Pa.

Two schools tied for the conference high with six members named each: Indiana University East and Midway (Ky.) University.

The Champions of Character team recognizes one member from each RSC school who best exemplifies the five core values of NAIA Champions of Character: Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Servant Leadership and Sportsmanship.

Honorees were nominated by their head coach for exemplifying these character traits. Caitlin Hoag earned   the honor for the Celtics.
