CLERMONT, Fla. --- Carlow University softball started its season with a 4-0 loss to Hannibal-LaGrange University Sunday at The Spring Games.

The Celtics (0-1) had several opportunities to score throughout the game, but the score remained deadlocked, 0-0, until the top of the sixth.

Carlow's best chance against the Trojans (1-6) came in the bottom of the second.

Annamarie Osiecki (JR/Erie, Pa.) reached on a walk, and Hannah Gallagher (FR/Robinson Twp., Pa.) came in to pinch run. Ciara Murray (SO/LaSalle, Ontario) singled to center to put runners on first and second with one out.

Senior Ashley Hoak (Elizabeth, Pa.) reached first on the fielder's choice, Gallagher advanced to third and Murray was forced out at second to give the Trojans two outs in the inning. Hannibal-LaGrange picked up a strikeout to get out of the inning unscathed.

The Trojans scored all their runs in the top of the sixth inning.

With one out, the Trojans hit a bunt single to reach, and an error by the Celtics allowed the runner to reach second. Hannibal-LaGrange doubled in the next at-bat to break the scoring stalemate and put a runner on third after the throw.

Another bunt single, an error and a single to center field scored three unearned runs for the Trojans.

Osiecki was saddled with the loss, allowing four runs (one earned) on five hits in two innings of work.

Alysa Fairman (JR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) started the game, walking one and striking out one in two innings of work. Freshman Amanda Hu (Katy, Texas) pitched two innings, allowing one hit and striking out one, and McKenna Lampe (FR/Rutan, Pa.) pitched the final inning and recorded a strikeout.
