CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio --- Carlow University women's basketball lost a narrow, 83-78, River States Conference contest to Ohio Christian University on the road Tuesday.

The Celtics (8-19, 3-11 RSC) trailed by a single point at the end of the first quarter, but the Trailblazers (18-10, 8-7 RSC) went on a 16-2 run in the second quarter to take a 59-32 lead into halftime.

Undeterred, Carlow went on a 17-6 run to tie the score 58-all with two minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Celtics outscored OCU, 24-12, in the third quarter to once again cut the Trailblazer lead to within a single point.

Carlow gained the lead early in the fourth quarter and managed to maintain the lead throughout much of the fourth.

Just as it was looking like the Celtics would come away with the victory, Ohio Christian tied the score, 78-all, on a free throw, and gained the lead on the next free throw with under a minute remaining in regulation.

The Celtics missed a basket and OCU made one to extend their lead to three points as the clock slowly ticked away. Another missed Carlow basket and a foul sent the Trailblazers to the line, where they made both free throws and put the game out of reach with just five seconds left on the clock.

Senior Emma Stille (Westerville, Ohio) poured in a season-high 31 points to lead all scorers. She pulled down 25 rebounds for her 15th double-double of the year.

Ashlyn Jonczak (JR/Natrona Heights, Pa.) added 15 points, including three treys, and dished out seven assists. Sophomore Angelica Orozco (Filmore, Calif.) had eight assists on the night.

The Celtics shot just eight free throws on the night compared to OCU's 32 opportunities at the line.

Carlow shot better from the field (42.7 percent), but the Trailblazer defense forced 20 turnovers.

The Celtics host Indiana University East Saturday, Feb. 22 for a 1 p.m. game. Carlow celebrates Senior Day, recognizing its three seniors before tip-off. Admission is free, and links to live coverage can be found at
