PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University women's basketball lost another
close game, 75-68, to visiting University of Rio Grande (Ohio) in a
River States Conference game Saturday at Donahue Pavilion.
Delaney Daly (SR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) put in a
double-double effort with 10 rebounds and led the team with 16
points in her first game back off a lower body injury.
Fellow senior Emma Stille (Westerville,
Ohio) scored her 14th double-double of the season
off the bench with 12 points and 16 boards.
The Celtics (8-18, 3-10 RSC) trailed 39-30 at the half against
the RedStorm (18-11, 10-5 RSC).
Carlow scored nine unanswered points at the end of the third
quarter to cut the Rio Grande lead to 56-49.
A bucket by Megan Ost (SO/Apollo, Pa.) in the
beginning of the fourth quarter put Carlow within five points of
the RedStorm. The Celtics attempted to put together a rally toward
the end of the game but ran out of time.
Ost added 10 points and sophomore
Kamryn Lach (Bethel Park, Pa.) dished out six
assists in the effort.
Carlow out-scored the RedStorm, 32-23, off the bench.
The Celtics shot just 30.3 percent from the field, but did well
from the foul line, shooting 82.8 percent compared to Rio Grande's
