PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University women's basketball lost a tough 70-62 battle against crosstown adversary Point Park University Tuesday at CCAC Allegheny.

The Celtics (8-16, 3-8 RSC) started strong with an 18-12 lead after the first quarter against the Pioneers (16-9, 6-5 RSC).

An and-one opportunity three minutes into the second quarter shifted the momentum in Point Park's favor as they went on a 14-4 run to lead 38-32 at halftime.

Point Park extended its lead to as much as 11 points in the third quarter, with the Celtics down 58-51 at the end of the third.

Carlow attempted to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter. A three-pointer by Angelica Orozco (SO/Filmore, Calif.) cut the Pioneer lead to within four with 7:48 remaining in the game.

The teams traded baskets, but it was Point Park with the final shot with just over a minute left in the game to hang on for the win.

The Celtics did not shoot any free throws on the night, and Point Park shot 76.9 percent from the line. Each team shot around 40 percent from the field, and the Pioneers out-rebounded Carlow, 44-37.

Emma Stille (SR/Westerville, Ohio) put up her 12th double-double of the season with 14 points and 18 boards on the night. She had three blocks on defense.

Sophomore Kamryn Lach (Bethel Park, Pa.) scored 12 points and dished out two assists, Megan Ost (SO/Apollo, Pa.) added 10 points off the bench and Orozco picked up five steals.
