Men’s Basketball falls to Rio Grande in conference road game

RIO GRANDE, Ohio --- Carlow University men's basketball fell, 87-68, on the road against River States Conference challenger University of Rio Grande Saturday.

Rio Grande (7-6, 1-1 RSC) jumped out to a 14-4 lead against the Celtics (0-11, 0-3 RSC) early in the first half. The RedStorm maintained an average 10-point distance throughout the half, leading 46-30 at halftime.

Carlow tried to chip away at the Rio Grande lead in the second half but could not bridge the gap in an otherwise evenly matched statistical game.

Rio Grande's bench out-scored Carlow's bench, 39-26, but scored only six more points in the paint than the Celtics.

The RedStorm scored 25 points off Carlow turnovers, but the Celtics shot 86 percent from the free throw line.

Sophomore Marcus Millien (Orlando, Fla.) led the team with 16 points off the bench. Rece Henneman (SR/Clarksville, Pa.) and freshmen and Pittsburgh, Pa. natives Tre' Harvey and Eugene Goodwine added 12, 11 and 10 points respectively in the effort. Henneman was 8 for 9 at the foul line, and Swade Redman (JR/Jeanette, Pa.) dished out four assists.

Carlow hosts NCAA DII California University of Pennsylvania Tuesday, Dec. 17 for a 7 p.m. game at Donahue Pavilion. Admission to Oakland Catholic High School is free, or links to live coverage can be found at
