Carlow Track & Field athletes open indoor season at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. --- Several Carlow University track & field athletes competed in the two-day Bucknell University Bison Open Dec. 6 and 7 to open the 2019-20 indoor season.

Freshman Tyhir Royster (Pittsburgh, Pa.) made his collegiate debut with a few impressive marks to start the season off on the right foot.

Royster placed fourth of 37 in a competitive field for the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.67, narrowly missing the NAIA indoor "B" qualifying standard.

He finished 20 of 23 in the 400 with a time of 55.80.

Senior field standout Javondii Myers (Columbia, S.C.) also came close to meeting NAIA qualifying standards in high jump, placing third of eight with a height of 1.91m.

Olivia Miller (JR/Bolivar, Pa.) competed in her first pentathlon of her career, finishing seventh of 15 with a score of 2703, and picking up big points in high jump and shot put.

Miller placed 22 of 26 in long jump with a distance of 4.60m, and 21 of 24 in triple jump, reaching 10.14m.

Tyler Hoffman (SO/Pittsburgh) placed fifth of 25 in weight throw with a distance of 16.15m, and sophomore Ethan Stroebel (New Castle, Pa.) returned from the injured reserve list to finish 14 of 17 in the 800 with a time of 2:08.21.

The Celtics return to action in the new year at the Penn State Nittany Lion Challenge on Jan. 11.
