Women’s Basketball opens season with exhibition game at SMWC tournament

SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. --- Carlow University women's basketball opened the 2019-20 season on the road with an exhibition game at the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods tournament in Indiana Saturday.

The Celtics faced Campbellsville-Harrodsburg in the USCAA exhibition game.

Despite a second half surge, Carlow was unable to overcome the Pioneers (1-0), falling just short, 75-72.

Harrodsburg took a 43-35 lead into halftime, but the Celtics rallied and out-scored the Pioneers in the second half, 39-32.

Carlow shot 53.8 percent from the foul line and out-rebounded the Pioneers, 61-43.

Delaney Daly (JR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) led the team with 17 points, and sophomore Megan Ost (Apollo, Pa.) pulled down 18 boards.
