PREVIEW
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio --- Carlow University senior forward
Emma Stille (Westerville, Ohio) was chosen
for the River States Conference Preseason All-RSC Team, and the
Celtics were picked 13th on the Preseason Coaches'
Poll, released by the league on Tuesday.
The preseason poll and All-RSC selections were announced as part
of the 2019-20 RSC Media Day.
Each university created a short video interviewing coaches and
players that was posted on the RSC Facebook
page.
Head coach Albert DeSalvo and seniors Stille and
Caroline Willig (Pittsburgh, Pa.) sat down
with Sean Meyers to talk all things women's basketball. Watch the
complete interview online here.
Last season, the Celtics went 9-22 overall and 4-13 in
conference action. Carlow returns five players who saw significant
playing time last season, as the team lost only three athletes to
graduation.
With Stille returning from an injury and DeSalvo taking over the
reigns as head coach, the Celtics look to turn the corner and pick
up more wins this season.
WVU Tech was picked as the preseason favorite coming off its RSC
Championship in 2018-19. The Golden Bears were 24-10 overall, 16-1
RSC to win the RSC East Division and the RSC regular-season
championship. WVU Tech went on to win the RSC Championship as well
and led the league's representatives at the NAIA Division II
National Championship.
The Golden Bears received 143 total votes in the preseason poll
and 11 of 13 first-place votes. They were chosen as the unanimous
favorites in the RSC East getting all 12 of the possible
first-place votes.
Carlow opens its season at the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods
tournament Nov. 2 and 3.
