Volleyball loses tough contest to crosstown rival Point Park

PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University volleyball lost a tough, 3-0, contest to crosstown rival Point Park University to open River States Conference action at home Tuesday.

The Celtics (6-3 overall, 0-1 RSC, 6-2 USCAA) lost the first set, 25-17, to the Pioneers (10-2, 1-0 RSC).

Point Park made quick work of Carlow in the second set, winning 25-11. The Pioneers hit .324 in the set.

Carlow made a game of the third set, swapping leads with Point Park up until the very end. Leading, 23-22, the Pioneers picked up an ace to make the score 24-22, and that was just the moment swing needed to propel them to a 25-23 win in the third set.

Cache Street (JR/Wilmerding, Pa.) had nine kills, Sabrina Skukalek (FR/Sewickley, Pa.) had 16 assists and Ellie Cook (FR/Connellsville, Pa.) added seven digs.
