BATAVIA, Ohio --- In a tough physical contest, defending USCAA DII champion University of Cincinnati Clermont came out on top, 2-0, over Carlow University women's soccer Friday night.

The Celtics (2-6, 1-1 USCAA) put up a good fight, but the Cougars scored early and kept the Celtics off the board for the remainder of the game.

Cincinnati Clermont put both goals in the back of the net just minutes apart from one another in the 15th and 17th minutes.

The Celtics out-shot the Cougars, 13-7, but could not find the back of the net, as Clermont stopped all five shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Lauren Forte (SO/Johnstown, Pa.) made five stops in the complete game effort, and Alexa Schwab (JR/Conway, Pa.) and Natalie DiGiorno (FR/Bethel Park, Pa.) each added two shots on goal.

Both teams played a physical match, with Carlow racking up 21 fouls and Clermont not far behind with 16.

Carlow hosts Indiana University East to open River States Conference action at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26 at the University of Pittsburgh Ambrose Urbanic Field. Links to live coverage can be found at
