Volleyball picks up another USCAA win over PSU Greater Allegheny

MCKEESPORT, Pa. --- Carlow University volleyball snagged a 3-1 win over Penn State Greater Allegheny on the road Monday, the second victory over the Lions in as many weeks.

The Celtics (4-1 overall, 4-1 USCAA) kept it close throughout the match, winning the first two sets, 25-22. Greater Allegheny (0-4) stayed within several points of the Celtics in each set, overcoming Carlow in the third set, 25-22, to force the fourth.

It came down to the wire in the fourth set, but the Celtics were able to pull away and secure the set and match, 29-27.

Four Celtics posted double-digit kills, including freshman Miranda Depkon (Pittsburgh, Pa.), who hit .379 on the day to lead the team with 14 kills.

Sabrina Skukalek (FR/Sewickley, Pa.) put up 44 assists, and four Celtics added double-digit digs. Junior Taylor Gent (Springdale, Pa.) led the team with 19 digs.

Carlow travels to the Penn State DuBois tri-match on Saturday, Sept. 14 where they will face Penn State Fayette and Penn State DuBois at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. respectively. Links to live coverage can be found at https://bit.ly/VB_19.
