PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University women's soccer lost a close, 1-0, contest against NCAA DIII Westminster College Monday at Highmark Stadium.

The Celtics (2-4, 1-0 USCAA) put eight shots on goal compared to the Titans' six, but Westminster (4-2) was the only team able to find the back of the net.

Each team was evenly matched in shots, and the game remained scoreless through the first half.

Westminster struck in the 48th minute off a shot over the head of goalkeeper Paige Schindehette (SR/Bethel Park, Pa.). It was enough to lift the Titans to victory, as the Celtics were unable to answer the remainder of the game.

Carlow had several opportunities to score in the second half, but the Westminster keeper kept the Celtics off the board.

Lauren Forte (SO/Johnstown, Pa.) started the game in net and stopped three shots, and freshman Anya Achtyl (Lancaster, N.Y.) finished the game, stopping two.

Carlow welcomes NCAA DIII Baldwin Wallace University Saturday, Sept. 14 for a 12 p.m. game at Highmark Stadium. Links to live coverage can be found at https://bit.ly/WSOC19.
