Men’s Soccer upended in season-opener on the road against MVNU

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Carlow University men's soccer lost, 9-0, to Mount Vernon Nazarene University on the road Saturday.

The Cougars' (2-1) defense allowed on three shots on goal by the Celtics (0-1, 0-0 RSC, 0-0 USCAA), all of which came in the first half.

A red card in the 37th minute left the Celtics down one man for the remainder of the match.

The Cougars scored early on in the game, adding back-to-back goals in the 45th minute to head into the locker room at halftime with a 6-0 lead.

MVNU out-shot the Celtics, 29-4, and held a 10-1 corner kick advantage. Senior goalkeeper Adam Myers (Port Vue, Pa.) made nine saves in the complete game effort.

The Cougars only loss so far this season came in a 1-0 contest against No.4-ranked Madonna (Mich.) University.
