MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Carlow University women's soccer held Mount Vernon Nazarene University scoreless for 70 minutes before the Cougars struck to win the game, 1-0, in an NAIA matchup Saturday.

The Celtics (2-2, 0-0 RSC, 1-0 USCAA) and the Cougars (3-1) each had almost equal opportunities to score in the first half, but both teams went into the locker room without numbers on the board.

MVNU came out in the second half with more fire, out-shooting the Celtics 8-5.

The Cougars scored on the rebound of a blocked shot in the 70th minute for the game-winning goal.

MVNU's only loss so far this season was a 1-0 contest against No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College.

Malak Shuman (SR/Monroeville, Pa.) and Alexa Schwab (JR/Conway, Pa.) posted all of the Celtics' five shots on goal, and goalkeeper Lauren Forte (SO/Johnstown, Pa.) stopped five shots.

The Celtics host Lake Erie College Friday, Sept. 6 at Highmark Stadium. Admission is free, and links to live coverage can be found at https://bit.ly/WSOC19.
