Volleyball finishes the weekend 2-1 at tip-off tournament

MONACA, Pa. --- Carlow University volleyball went 2-0 on Friday, Aug. 30 to advance to the semifinals of the USCAA Tip-Off Tournament at Penn State Beaver Saturday.

The Celtics (2-1, 0-0 RSC, 2-1 USCAA) fell, 3-1, to Florida National University (6-4) in the semifinal game, 25-12, 25-18, 25-19, 25-17.

Carlow took the third set from the Conquistadors, but FNU held off the attack for the win in the fourth set.

Katie Tarasovich (FR/Cranberry Twp., Pa.) had 10 kills and 10 digs in the match, and Sabrina Skukalek (FR/Sewickley, Pa.) put up all but one of the Celtics' 30 assists.

The Conquistadors out-hit the Celtics, 0.248 to 0.053 on the day. Carlow had six blocks, while FNU did not record any.

Carlow hosts Kent State Tuscarawas Thursday, Sept. 5 for its home opener at 7 p.m. in St. Joseph Athletic and Fitness Center. Links to live coverage at https://bit.ly/VB_19.
