PORTSMOUTH, Ohio --- Carlow University women's soccer picked up a 1-0 nonconference win over Shawnee State on the road Wednesday.

The score remained deadlocked throughout the first half, with the Bears (0-2) out-shooting the Celtics (2-1, 0-0 RSC, 1-0 USCAA), 7-6.

Carlow broke the standstill early on in the second half on an unassisted goal by Abby Marinucci (SO/Uniontown, Pa.) in the 52nd minute.

Almost all of Shawnee State's shots were on goal, but sophomore Lauren Forte (Johnstown, Pa.) stood strong in the net with eight saves in the shutout win.

The Celtics held a 5-1 corner kick advantage in an otherwise evenly matched game, with each team tallying eight shots on goal.

Carlow visits Mount Vernon Nazarene University Aug. 31 for a 3 p.m. NAIA matchup. Links to live coverage can be found at bit.ly/WSOC19.
