MIDDLETOWN, Ohio --- Carlow University men's soccer garnered 12
votes in the 2019 River States Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll,
announced by the league on Aug. 8.
Last season the Celtics went 4-13 overall with a 1-8 conference
Carlow returns eight starters from last season including
goalkeeper Adam Myers (SR/McKeesport, Pa.), who led the league with
107 saves; Janvier Ramson (SO/Pittsburgh, Pa.), who scored 11 goals
for the Celtics last season; and Launthar Eh (SO/Pittsburgh, Pa.),
who led the team with four assists.
Head coach Marcus Pollidore returns for his fourth season on the
pitch and brings in six new athletes to add into the mix.
The University of Rio Grande received 81 votes in the preseason
poll and earned all nine of its possible first-place votes. The
RedStorm posted an overall record of 20-1 on the year. Rio Grande,
which has won four of the last five RSC Championships, went a
perfect 9-0 in the RSC regular season and won another conference
WVU Tech was picked second in the poll with 73 votes and the
remaining first-place vote. WVU Tech suffered a 4-3 overtime loss
to Rio Grande in last year's RSC Championship finals and were
14-2-4 overall, 7-1-1 RSC.
Carlow men's soccer kicks off the 2019 season on the road
against Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Aug. 31.
The Celtics' home opener is set for Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. against
USCAA opponent Penn State Beaver. View the complete schedule online
The team plays at Highmark Stadium in Station Square, just
minutes from campus and home to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the
United Soccer League. Admission to all Carlow home games is free to
the general public.
