MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Carlow University women's soccer earned fourth place in the 2019 River States Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll with a total of 71 votes, the league announced Aug. 8.

The poll was conducted with voting from the 11 RSC women's soccer head coaches, and coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.

The Celtics finished last season with a 9-8-1 overall, 6-2-1 RSC record and ended up third place in the conference standings. The Celtics hosted and won a quarterfinal game, 1-0, against Ohio Christian University before falling, 1-0, to Asbury (Ky.) University in the semifinals.

The Celtics return All-RSC Second Team players, forward Gabbie Adams (SO/Carrboro, N.C.), defender Rachel Flory (SR/Huntington Beach, Calif.) and goalkeeper Paige Schindehette (SO/Bethel Park, Pa.).

Last season's RSC Coach of the Year Allen Duda is back at the helm to lead the Celtics.

Duda recruited 10 freshmen to add to the depth and talent of his roster this season.

Asbury earned the top spot with 91 total votes and five of the 11 first-place votes. The Eagles won the RSC Championship last year posting a record of 10-8-2 overall and 6-2-1 RSC.

Indiana University East was picked second this preseason with 82 votes and four first-place votes. The Red Wolves had the best overall record in the conference last year at 12-4-4 and made it to the RSC finals last season.

Point Park University was chosen third in the poll coming off its RSC regular-season title of 2018. The Pioneers were 11-8 overall, 7-2 RSC and earned 75 votes in the poll to round out the top three.
