BEAVER FALLS, Pa. --- Six Carlow University Track & Field athletes competed at the Geneva College Invitational on Wednesday.
Five men’s teams and seven women’s teams from NCAA DI, II and III universities attended the meet.
Sophomore Larissa Kijowski (Dayton, Pa.) – chasing an NAIA national qualifying time – came seconds closer in the 800. She finished 3rd of 10 with a time of 2:19.48, just under three seconds shy of meeting the NAIA “B” standard qualifying time.
Olivia Miller (SO/Bolivar, Pa.) put in another strong performance in the field events.
Miller finished 3rd of 6 in high jump (1.40 meters), 3rd of 9 in triple jump (10.13 meters) and 8th of 13 in shot put (8.90 meters).
She placed 8th of 17 in javelin with a distance of 27.04 meters, improving her throw by almost 10 meters since the weekend at Westminster.
Jordan Palmer (SO/Burgettstown, Pa.) scored a personal best 24.59 meters in javelin, placing 11th of 17. She improved her discus throw by two meters with a distance of 20.92, and threw 6.89 meters in shot put.
Rayshell Brown (SO/Pittsburgh, Pa.) ran a personal best 14.88 in the 100 and finished 6th of 8 in the 200 with a time of 30.86. She leapt 3.95 meters in long jump.
Freshman Robert Hoffman (Pittsburgh, Pa.) improved his javelin throw by almost two meters since Westminster, finishing 10th of 11 with a distance of 35.35 meters. He also ran 12.98 in the 100.
The Celtics travel to Eaton, Ohio on April 25 and 26 to compete in the River States Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Meet information forthcoming.
