PITTSBURGH, Pa. --- Carlow University tennis celebrated Senior Day on Saturday at Alpha Tennis and Fitness.

Five graduating seniors were recognized: Catherine Armstrong, Emily Armstrong, Justina Jacquillard, Melanie Long and Rebecca Walker.

Catherine Armstrong was absent due to a conference that conflicted with the schedule.

The Celtics (1-6) lost, 7-2, to Midway (Ky.) University (8-12, 1-4 RSC).

The Eagles swept the doubles matches (9-7, 8-0, 8-0).

Emily Armstrong (New Kensington, Pa.) and Ashleigh Bowser (FR/Kittanning, Pa.) gave the Eagles a run for their money in the No. 1 doubles spot, falling 9-7.

Bowser also won her singles match in the No. 5 spot, 6-3 and 6-2.

Melanie Long (Pittsburgh, Pa.) won the No. 3 singles match, 6-3 and 6-2, for the Celtics.

The loss knocked tennis out of RSC Championship contention, and thus ended the Celtics’ season prematurely.
