CLERMONT, Fla. - Carlow University softball wrapped up its
spring training schedule in Florida March 9 with two tough
The Celtics (4-6) narrowly lost, 5-3, to Lawrence Technological
(Mich.) University (8-0).
The Blue Devils jumped out to a 5-0 lead heading into the bottom
of the third inning.
Carlow cut the lead to 5-2 on a two-out, 2 RBI home run by
sophomore Tristan Voss (Enon Valley,
Pa.) in the bottom of the third.
The Celtics picked up another run in bottom of the fifth off a
solo homer by Abby Stroud (JR/New Egypt,
N.J.), but could not catch up to the Blue Devils.
Freshman Morgan Pierce (Leechburg,
Pa.) was saddled with the loss, allowing four runs on four hits in
Stroud pitched the remainder of the game, allowing one run on
three hits and striking out three.
Carlow lost its final game of the trip, 13-2, in five innings
against Indiana University South Bend (4-0).
The Titans scored four runs in the bottom of the first, and the
Celtics answered in the top of the second with two runs of their

South Bend added its final run in the bottom of the fourth, and
when the Celtics could not answer, the game was called due to the

walking one and striking out two.
Sophomore Annamarie Osiecki (Erie,
Pa.) allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits, walked one and
struck out four in two innings of work.
Carlow begins regular season action at Indiana University
Southeast March 15 with a 1 p.m. River States Conference
