PITTSBURGH --- The Carlow University women’s basketball team celebrated Senior Night with a 71-65 win over Ohio Christian University in a River States Conference game Tuesday.

Three seniors were recognized before the beginning of the game: Kayla Brownlee (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Theresa Fachetti (Harbor Creek, Pa.) and Bria Rathway (Belle Vernon, Pa.).

The Celtics (9-20, 4-12 RSC, 3-3 USCAA) jumped out to an early lead over the Trailblazers (1-25, 0-16 RSC), heading into halftime ahead, 37-21.

It was the Celtics’ largest lead of the game, one that they slowly relinquished throughout the second half.

The Trailblazers outscored the Celtics, 44-34, in the second half, several times coming within three points of Carlow toward the end of the fourth quarter.

Forced to foul with time running out, the Celtics converted at the free throw line to seal the deal.

Freshman Megan Ost (Apollo, Pa.) scored a career-high 20 points and pulled down 11 boards. She was 6 for 8 from the charity stripe and had five blocks.

Carlow’s bench added 30 points, including double-digit performances from freshmen Gabby Olinger (Dayton, Pa.) and Kamryn Lach (Pittsburgh, Pa.) who scored 14 and 10 points respectively.

Delaney Daly (JR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) also put up a double-double performance with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

The Celtics shot 75 percent (21 for 28) from the free throw line on the evening.

Carlow travels to Indiana University East on Feb. 16 for a 1 p.m. RSC game. The Celtics lost, 51-43, to the Red Wolves on Jan. 12 at home.
