GENEVA, Ohio --- Carlow University’s men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the SPIRE Midwest Open Jan. 25 and 26.
Sophomore Olivia Miller (Bolivar, Pa.) picked up personal bests in three events on the weekend. She placed ninth out of 40 in long jump with a personal best of 4.83 meters.
Miller also placed seventh out of 25 in triple jump with a personal best distance of 10.27 meters, and 16 of 22 with a personal best 1.48 meters in high jump.
Larissa Kijowski (SO/Dayton, Pa.) ran a personal best 1:41.29 to place fifth out of 18 in the 600.
Freshman Kaitlynn Melvin (Belle Vernon, Pa.) had a strong showing as well, with a personal best of 11:44.77 in the 3,000.
The women’s team also placed in the 200, 400, 4x400 relay and shot put.
Several athletes also earned personal bests on the men’s team.
Junior Javondii Myers (Columbia, S.C.) scored a personal best 12.44 meters in the triple jump. He placed 12 of 24.
Kevin Sheehan (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) ran a personal best 5:39.16 in the mile, and Justin Molitoris (FR/Pittsburgh, Pa.) ran a personal best 25:15 in the 200.
Freshman Ethan Stroebel (New Castle, Pa.) ran a personal best 1:27.54 to place 16 of 35 in the 600.
The men’s team also placed in the 60, 400, 800, 3000, 4x400 relay, shot put, high jump and long jump.
Carlow’s next competition is the River States Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships in Tiffin, Ohio on Feb. 8.
