Men’s Basketball runs out of time in hard-fought home opener

PITTSBURGH – The Carlow University men’s basketball team narrowly lost, 65-62, to Lourdes (Ohio) University Nov. 10 at Oakland Catholic High School.

The Celtics (1-3, 0-0 RSC, 1-1 USCAA) traded leads back and forth with the Gray Wolves (4-1) throughout the entire game, leading 25-24 heading into halftime.

Ahead 52-48 with under five minutes remaining, the Gray Wolves cut the lead to 62-61 with less than a minute to go in the game.

Despite the hard-fought battle, the Celtics fell behind, 65-62, as time ran off the clock.

Junior Rece Henneman (Clarksville, Pa.) put up 17 points, including three treys, and pulled down six boards. Tony Acrie (JR/Johnstown, Pa.) added 16 points and eight rebounds, and Brenlee Reedy (JR/Linville, Va.) scored 14 points with nine boards.

Carlow hosts Salem International University tomorrow for a 2 p.m. nonconference game at Oakland Catholic High School.
